    Easy no fuss reading lessons
You’ll need both the teacher’s and student’s books for this, but it’s definitely worth it. The most you need for materials is some letter magnets and a bunch of index cards. We’ve found so much joy in teaching reading using this simple methodical method. You don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on fancy lesson plans to teach reading. If you can read, you can teach your child. All the lessons are scripted and incredibly easy to follow.

    A phonics based blessing
I bought this book 19 years ago. Wow! With it, I taught both of my children how to read before they headed to public school. At the time, we were worried about the public schools’ whole language method – as in a lack of phonics. I can’t conceive of achieving such a feat without Jesse’s 1-2-3’s of phonics. I’m a working mom without an education background. After doing Jesse’s program, the kids flourished, confident in their abilities and love of language. Her method is idiot-proof so long as you consistently do the lessons. So, 19 years later… was it worth it? Yah!! Girl graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Princeton. Boy is on the Dean’s list at his college in the Midwest, majoring in mechanical engineering. Jesse Wise gave my kids a jump start to life . No private schools or personal tutoring required. Thank you, Jesse!! You gave us a path and we built it upon it with the idea (and responsibility) that we are as a family are our children’s first teachers.
P.S. My kids now fondly recall the treats and dollar tree bribes they racked up during these phonics lessons.

Overall this program is so simple and thorough and helped my 4.5-5.5 year old go from beginner reader to chapter books in less than a year!
I used the first edition, and it was difficult at times to deal with the instructor text and student text mixed together. Though I loved it overall. Now that my second child is learning to read I appreciate having the seperate books for reading lessons!
