He continues to lead the action thriller genre with relentless action, absorbing storytelling, and engaging characters. Although somewhat lengthy â 560 pages â the story is still very stimulating, exhilarating, and entertaining. This book confirms why Mark Greaney is one of my favorite authors.

Be prepared for nightmares
THE CHAOS AGENT by Mark GreaneyThe latest installment in the Gray Man series will keep you up long past your bedtime and when you eventually succumb to slumber, be prepared for nightmares. Mark Greaney remains at the top of his game, crafting characters and a series arc that keeps the reader wanting more, but this installment is something altogether different.To date, the weapons have always been pointed at Court Gentry. In THE CHAOS AGENT, they are pointed at all of us.Iâve been an admirer of Greaneyâs talent for a long time, but not for the reasons many others are. His character development compels me to be invested in the protagonist and the whole of the ensemble cast. The pace and action are always top notch, forcing me to turn the page, and the plot always features twists I didnât see coming. Furthermore, Greaney sets the standard for researching the world in which he sets his stories. But as a retired CIA Officer, what Iâve most admired is this â even when what he describes might not happen in the real world, today, itâs utterly plausible.With a keen understanding of the possible threats posed by AI, this story chilled me to the bone. Greaney did his research and it shows. Prior to retiring from government service, I caught a glimpse into what is referred to as Emerging and Disruptive Technologies, working with leading experts in various fields which included AI, Quantum Computing, and other fields. In short, while not everything Greaney described is technically feasible in this moment, his writing is certainly plausible, but more to the point, it will be reality at some point. Perhaps not for several years, but it is on the horizon.So well done. Another masterful installment in the series and a cautionary tale. Disclaimers of nightmares notwithstanding, read this book.

A Bit Of A Departure For The Gray Man
“The Chaos Agent” is long streaky Gray Man novel that does little to advance The Gray Man. It is a tale wrapped around the promise and fear of artificial intelligence (AI). Basically someone is eliminating all known competitors in the AI and robotic field and Court and Zoya are recruited to help an old friend protect someone. They decline but are immediately targets for assassins. Court and Zoya are not good choices for victims in an AI robotics run amok world.Before long, many of our favorite characters from the Gray Man series are in action including Hanley, Travers, and Hightower who are all engaged in resisting a mad man’s attempt to utilize AI and robots to…yep, you guessed it…take control of the world. Our heroes fight some wonderfully choreographed fight scenes as they try to control the situation especially as the central AI character begins to emerge free of human control.My niggling concerns should not dissuade true Gray Man fans from buying this effort. The book is overly long with a lot of repetitive regurgitation of the pros and cons of AI and it does drag just a bit at times. Anyone who has spent any time reading science fiction will quickly analyze the plot and equally quickly will predict the outcomes. My major concern is that Court and Zoya are used somewhat sparingly and their roles in this book are not typical for Gray Man adventures…in other words, Court’s Gray Man could be anyone else in this story since his particular character and skills are not highlighted. Still a great read for loyal fans.

Have read and owned all Gray Man books and this by is perhaps the best of them all. A thriller that can’t be put down once you start reading it.

Dam been waiting on the next Grey Man book and youâre left on a cliff hanger. Court and Zoya are keeping or trying to keep a low profile but with Court things never go the way he plans it. A ghost from Zolaâs past sees them dragged back into bedlam. Itâs great to see old characters from previous books in this one. Its furistic theme leaves you thinking of certain movies and their references in the book give you a giggle. Not going to spoil it for you. Loved the book but am so pussed off that Iâm left hanging for the next book. This one is really a part 1 & part2 whenever it arrives.
