Well done
This book resonated me for many reasons. Applying right mix of love, empathy and accountability with your adult children. Taking the long view about failure to launch kids. More than half of adult kids under 30 still live with their parents because of high housing costs. No idea. Many great techniques for having tough conversations. A special emphasis about listening with purpose. Coaching them up when required. Raising the bar. Loved it, Kate.

Concise and down to earth
As I read Kate’s book, I found myself wishing that the parents of some of my young adult clients (I’m a social worker too) had this book in their hands and could really learn from it. Kate’s advice to keep the long game in mind in difficult situations is something every parent of adult children would do well to practice. There is a statement in the book about relationships as the parent of an adult child requiring a lot of flexibility and acceptance. In this day and age, with so much tension in society and change within families, flexibility and acceptance are more important than ever. I found the scenarios in the book helpful in terms of how different families applied the concepts in the book ub a beneficial way. HIghlighting potential pitfalls was helpful too. It’s a great addition to my professional library.

Practical insights & strategies!
I was sent a free copy of Parenting Adult Children by Kate McNulty to review–and I really was excited to see this book, because Kate is terrific at helping couples and families better understand each other and work toward solutions. She tackles the big challenges, like “failure to Launch” with empathy and skill: Using specific family scenarios, she describes the issues from each of the family members’ perspectives, explaining where each member is coming from. She lists pitfalls and tips, as well as a clear strategy. These make the book a good “coach” for parents handling tough dilemmas while trying to preserve family relationships. You will feel encouraged and see a clear path forward–highly recommended!

Useful Guide to Transitioning Parent and Adult Child Relationship
The author has provided a useful guide to help parents with a successful relationship as their child individuates into adulthood and beyond. This is a challenging time for many parents with how to let go and allow for the adult child to live their lives and their unique path, as well as parents provide support and love, even if they disagree and want something else for their child.

Concise useful information
The subtitle says it well: A practical guide to navigating your evolving relationship. This book was indeed practical and there was not a lot of unnecessary fluff to get through to get the information that you really want. I will for sure pass this book on to other people who may be struggling as their children transition to adulthood
