    Very helpful
Well written. Short and to the point. Explains fundmental concepts very effectively with drowning the reader in lots of technical jargon

    Survey of Information Technology
A relatively quick read (maybe a couple of hours if you do all of the exercises including the web setups) that will guide a novice through the basics of information technology. This is not a programming book, nor a complete “how-to” guide. Think of it more as an overview – some history, some of what is currently happening in the industry, and a look ahead to some of the larger trends that may have some staying power. Overall, it is written very conversationally and clearly. I could definitely recommend this as a starting read for anyone who has not worked in the industry, or may not know “a lot about computers” other than downloading apps, searching, and reading email.

Needs work but still okay for beginners
Very basic but I would consider okay for beginners as far as content. Awful editing. There are so many issues that you have to read sections a couple times to determine what is being said. Errors are misspelled words, duplication of words and phrases in the same sentence, incomplete sentences, just a wide range of issues. I could see a beginner getting lost in several areas because of the errors.

  4. Gilbert

    Informative
Very informative book but could have been proofread better. There are some spelling mistakes and grammar errors in the book.

  5. Dwayne Wallace

    Great book
    Great book thanks

  6. Sitsuki

    Great for beginners
Great book! Coming from a newbie it was easy to learn

  7. dmr1410

Misleading, insulting – for absolute beginners or IT luddites.
This book is an insult to intelligence. The title is beyond misleading. I would give 0 stars if I could and am planning on returning it. It purports to be for “Information Technology Professionals”. As someone who is IT savvy but never studied IT, I wanted to fill some of the gaps I have in IT essentials. I haven’t found a single peice of useful information or anything that even approaches a technical description. It is repetitive and outdated, even though published in 2017. For a housewife a house husband, someone who has never worked or barely knows how to turn on a computer this might be a helfpful overview of teh most basics of basics.

  8. Kindle Customer

    Ok
There are typos on almost every page. It’s annoying but if you can get past it the book is ok.

  9. Amazon Customer

    everything perfect

  10. Kindle Customer

As someone who knows next to nothing, take my comment for what it’s worth.
Pros: Fast read and well rounded.
Cons: Author left out a few explanations (i.e. preventative security measures in the cyber security chapter).
