The Gilded Newport Mysteries: Murder at the Breakers
My purchase was on time and in perfect condition. I liked this movie. This movie is in the setting of 1895 in Newport, Rhode Island with a mystery. I recommend this movie.

    Worst movie ever
I couldn’t make it through this movie. Tried twice. Worst movie I ever saw. I’m sorry, but it seems Ali Skovbye can only play small parts as the shy girl she probably is until she gains more confidence.

    Disappointing adaptation
I am a big fan of the book series this movie is based on, and I am writing this review for one reason only: If you watched this movie and were disappointed by it, don’t judge the book series on the movie. The book series is much better written and this movie has been dumbed way down. Why didn’t I like this movie? The sets, costumes etc were good, but the acting was VERY bad. The lead actress seemed to be on the verge of giggles half the time. None of the lead actors delivered their lines with any type of real emotion or chemistry. In addition, some of the locations were not quite accurate, which is probably a budget issue, as the main character’s home in the books was in a coastal area and that’s not depicted at all on the show. And there are so many changes with no purpose. Without revealing any spoilers, the movie gets the relationship with the policeman wrong (and as a local boy, what’s up with his accent?). No one in the books calls the main character Miss Vanderbilt-Cross, and I assume the movie is only doing that to remind the viewers every five minutes that she’s related to the Vanderbilts. I don’t think the viewer is quite that stupid, especially when there are Vanderbilts playing major parts in the storyline. She’s a fictional distant relative and not named Vanderbilt in the books at all. The actual Vanderbilts who are portrayed in the movie are dull as doorknobs while in real life (and in the books) they were quite lively and interesting. I could go on, but I don’t want to think about this movie any more.Unfortunately, this movie is a turkey. However, the book series is really good, so don’t let the movie stop you from exploring the book series which is much richer and based on an interesting time in American history, with much better romantic tension, richer and more interesting characters, and a much better representation of the setting.

    Thankful for subtitles!!!!
Unfortunately there is a lot of mumbling combined with fast-talking (subtitles helped – but a lot of stop and go) throughout the movie. Refreshing when an actor enunciated crystal clear- like Nathan Witte! The“daughters” hairstyles were overdone and not attractive, imho. I tagged the killer too soon!

Wow! Can’t believe this is Hallmark!!
Excellent!! Felt like I was watching a Masterpiece Theater! I hope Hallmark does more of these period mysteries. Well Done!

    Poor Script, Poor Acting
Whoever cast this movie undoubtedly didn’t read the script. Very poor judgement. Movie should never have been made.
