The second book in the definitive graphic novel adaptation of Dune, the groundbreaking science-fiction classic by Frank Herbert.

In book 2 of the bestselling graphic novel trilogy, young Paul Atreides and his mother, Lady Jessica, find themselves stranded in the deep desert of Arrakis. Betrayed by one of their own and destroyed by their greatest enemy, Paul and Jessica must find the mysterious Fremen . . . or perish.

This faithful adaptation of the 1965 novel Dune by Brian Herbert, son of Frank Herbert, and the New York Times bestselling author Kevin J. Anderson, continues to explore Paul’s journey as he evolves from boy to mysterious messiah.

Illustrated by Raúl Allén and Patricia Martín, this spectacular blend of adventure and spirituality, environmentalism, and politics is a groundbreaking look into our universe and transformed by the graphic novel format into a powerful, fantastical tale for a new generation of readers.

“This is a fantastic way to read the Dune epic and to become immersed in the greater details of the novel. The clear and precise artwork makes the narrative easy to follow and imbues the story with a cutting edge of the best stylish qualities that graphic novels have to offer.” —Alex Ross

    Extremely exciting
A further explanation of the legendary saga!

A Beautiful Adapation of a Classic Work of Sci-Fi!
“Dune: The Graphic Novel, Book 2: Muad’Dib” continues Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson’s comic adaptation of Frank Herbert’s “Dune” with art from Raúl Allén and Patricia Martín as well as Bill Sienkiewicz, who previously adapted David Lynch’s 1984 film version of “Dune” for Marvel Comics. The story picks up following the events of the first volume, with Paul Atreides and the Lady Jessica fleeing into the desert after the Harkonnens attacked. There they meet Stilgar and his sietch, learning more of the Fremen customs in order to discover the source of desert power. Meanwhile, Baron Harkonnen schemes on Giedi Prime, plotting the future of his heir, Feyd. Allén, Martín, and Sienkiewicz beautifully bring to vivid life Herbert’s story, using color to particular effect in their storytelling. The use of color resembles the Sci-Fi Channel’s 2000 miniseries adaptation of “Dune.” This volume ends with Lady Jessica’s transformation into a Reverend Mother, setting the stage for volume three, “Prophet”, due out in spring 2024.

    A really great adaptation
This is a really great adaptation of Dune: Muad’dib. It’s a really fun read, and if you’ve watched the Dune Movie(s) and you are into graphic novels, these graphic novels are certainly an option if you want to know how the book went, since everything is really faithful. Of course, get the first one first, as this is the second one

    Brilliant adaptation.
Excellent visual adaptation of the novel. Delves even deeper into the psychology of the characters than the film has time for (nothing against Denis Villeneuve. I loved his film!). I read it in one sitting. I’m excited for part 3 of this graphic novel version.

I am a fan of Dune, period.
I bought the first volume of this comic rendition of the book, and I loved it.
I waited patiently for this second volume… and then got a bit dissapointed because some pages are diffictult to read.
I understand the story is “dark”, but is it necessary to chose the color palete that make the ilustrations and the text difficult to read? For instance, see page 156 and 157, white text over orange background, really? (maybe I am getting old and grounchy)
I will definetely buy the 3rd volumen… but please, if the authors are reading this, be merciful of your readers 🙂

  12. Jason Tolotta

The quality of the book is fantastic with amazing art.
Even the book jacket has a velvety feel with an embossed title.

  13. simon ng

The way the characters were drawn is very mature.
