Mortal Man –
Ancient Wisdom in Contemporary Packaging
First of all, I also want to point out as some others have that the message and format of this book is almost identical to “Breaking Loose from the Money Game” – so you can take your pick. The “Business” version wraps the message in examples related to being in business, so as an entrepreneur I found it more engaging and a little fresher.
I find Scheinfeld’s writing inspiring in the way I also like to occasionally read passages from the Bhagavad Gita, Bible, or even poems of Kabir for inspiration. (And many other things.) I suspect that the author would not like to reference these types of things, lest people reflexively dismiss his book as yet another spiritual or new age tome. He wants his take on the nature of reality to stand on its own, using metaphors and explanations from modern life.
Scheinfeld has distilled the notion that “life is but a dream” into a way of looking at your own life from the perspective that we each live in a grand illusion created by our higher self. That “higher self” is one with God or whatever you would call the essence of the universe, or the universe itself. He does his best to explain this in a way that does not rely much on any particular religious or spiritual cosmology, and that is refreshing.
Because he is describing something not really knowable by the mind, he uses a lot of analogies and metaphors to give what Eckhart Tolle call “pointers” to the truth. But the truth itself is a personal, internal experience and all of the descriptions in the world will not provide that experience in the way that a restaurant menu cannot satisfy the hunger of your stomach.
Personally, I relate well to what Robert describes – I have been practicing specific techniques taught by Prem Rawat for many years, and through my own experience I do see things sort of the way Scheinfeld talks about. So his writings tend to be a reminder for me to look within myself for answers.
Many people who read “Busting Loose…” cold may conclude that Scheinfeld is stone-crazy because it is such a radically different approach from typical books about business and financial success. Some will say he’s yet another huckster, serving up more magical thinking as a gateway to his various for-pay courses, seminars, and subscriptions. (I have to say, having watched some of his videos and promotions, that his speaking manner and “offers” do little to refute that impression!)
And yet. There is something to the message – it can be very useful to step back our carefully inculcated notions of reality and ask the question – “what is really going on here?” I love that message. The specific techniques Scheinfeld offers do not resonate much with me, and may or may not be helpful to others, but I’m always open to any reinforcement of the powerful truth that what we are seeking comes from within ourselves, and on that level that really counts, yes, this all is a waking dream.
I really like this book, and I recommend it as a fascinating perspective that may inspire you or piss you off, but at least offers the possibility of seeing your problems in a whole new light. As far as actually delivering the experience of “the Truth”, well, it’s just a book. But if it helps you understand that there is even a possibility of finding that truth within yourself, that’s not a bad thing.

Super
This is a wonderful continuation of “Busting loose from the money game”.
The concepts are the same, but it provides new and valuable nuggets of information that will make the entire picture even more clear.
Absolutely worth a read.

A Creative Masterpiece
I have done the “11th Element” and read the BL from the Money Game” The principles are the same and if you did these and didn’t quite “get it” then you will be repeating the same information. If you get it and need reinforcement then the repetition is recommended.
In fact when learning this work repetition is always used for the student.
Robert has taken essential metaphysical teachings within the Vedantic philosophy and put them into a way some one unfamiliar with these ideas can understand. It is a masterfully creative way he has simplified it into a fun game and I wish I had his talent. You will find an understanding of this within “A course in Miracles” and books by David R Hawkins MD. PhD.
There is great depth within these pages which you will recognise relative to your level of spiritual reading. It places a fun perspective on a lifestyle approach that it seems we are transitioning towards.

Almost a perfect understanding
Since the big wave of “The Secret” or Law of Attraction became a popular subject there has been a lot of people thinking they could get rich just by thinking about it….
For lack of a better term, “spirituality” has expanded way past the notion of Law of Attraction, and Busting Loose is one angle of this expansion.
My suggestion is to rent or buy the dvd “What the Bleep Do We Know?”, with “Down the Rabbit Whole” on it, along with or before reading this book, if you do not understand that this is not a business book.
The reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is simply that, although I like Scheinfeld’s pragmatic/blunt style, people who are reading this seem to think that his “process” is THE only way to “bust loose”, and he will often state it that way to keep people fixated on his programs– like all good marketers –and his metaphor of him and his wife having a completely different reality is not the best metaphor for me. Although we ARE all one and connected on some level, the concept that when we are co-creating we have totally different realities does not resonate with me…. But, as he says, there is– at our level of understanding –no way for our limited minds to understand how we are all connected. It just seems the separate dimension thing is separation on another level…. But I digress….
It is an easy read, and is an awesome perspective on how to understand the old spiritual or buddhist notion that we are really Nothing but consciousness, having a dream that the physical/ego is the Truth….
Buy it, borrow, or steal it.

Nothing like it
This book is AWESOME! You definitely need to have an open mind. Not your mainstream thinking. It explains the main concepts well that allow one to make the leap in thinking about life differently. I LOVE the simplicity of just 4 “Tools”.
If you have read The Game of God: Recovering Your True Identity by Hancock and Brugger and A Course in Miracles and you like those, this book’s premise fits nicely in with those. This book will give you the tools to experience what the other two talk about.
I have been practicing Appreciation and the Mini Process just a few days and it is already taking the edge off what has been some stressful situations. And it has also helped me fully grasp what I was challenged to in A Course in Miracles. I’m really excited! This is going to be fun!

Its a fantastic book. However, being aware of who you truly are is absolute key. I read the book twice and the first time it didnât make much sense to me. The second time I finally got it. In the meantime I spent a lot of time doing self-inquiry to help me realise my true self. Once that was done Roberts book made so much sense and I am so so happy now!!!

As a searcher for The Truth I found this book a great companion on my journey. I’ve chosen a long time ago to take the red pill. This book is my Morpheus. And I am Neo. You can be too.
